CoEd JV Cheerleading
UCA Stunt Camp will be August 9th-11th at Woodbridge. Cheerleaders will be required to stay WSHS the entire time. It is imperative that cheerleaders bring lunch with them each day and a lot of water! Parents are welcomed to come in the last day of camp to see what we have learned! We will have a showcase the last hour of camp.
All ads are due . All cheerleaders must sell $250 in ads. Any additional ads sold will be split in half with a portion credited to your spirit wear account.
First payment is $200 due Friday, August 4th. This will cover the cost of stunt camp the following week. If you have questions or concerns please contact Coach Frase.
There will be a mandatory team meeting for cheerleaders and parents that make the 2017-2108 WSHS Cheer Teams on August 2nd at 7pm in the upper cafeteria.
SAVE THE DATES
Cheer tryouts will start on Monday, July 31st at 8am -11am and finish on Tuesday, August 1st from 8am until the last group has performed. The teams will be posted online in the evening.
*All athletes will be scored on a rubric for tryouts. Tumbling is a skill that will be scored this year and will take a priority on team placements. Please remember the half plus one rule for all teams this year (Example: We have a team of 20 cheerleaders. Half of the team is 10 cheerleaders plus 1 gives us 11. We would need 11 cheerleaders that can do standing and running backwards tumbling). Cheerleading is becoming more competitive and we need to match it. Reminder, we can only compete with 20 cheerleaders on floor. If we don't get 11 tumblers then starting number of cheerleaders on the floor will decrease. This rubric can be found under the files tab.
You need proper documents on file (updated physical, blue card, and have completed the concussion training). If you are missing these documents then you will not be permitted to try out. In addition, you will need a head shot photo, the background information sheet, and the rules and regulations sheet. These forms can be found under the files tab.
Come in proper athletic wear. Hair must be fully up and out of your face. Bring water. And absolutely no jewelry or spandex shorts.
If you have additional questions, please contact Coach Frase.
